From an early age, João Mendes revealed great sensitivity towards the arts. When looking at the objects, he always tried to see what was beyond the first impression and tried to understand how it was made. Over the years, this curiosity had been gaining form and culminated when he got to college.
From 2002 to 2007, João studied Product Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon, Portugal. Throughout the course, he developed impactful and well-structured projects, either individually or in a team. He believes that the best challenges are those which appear to be impossible at first, as the feeling of successfully overcoming them is strikingly motivating and unique.
From 2007 to 2012 he worked in several design agencies to a very known brands roll, performing work on several categories of industrial design, thriving with greater expression in the fields of exhibition stand, interior, store, 3D visualization and packaging.
Since 2012 until today, he has been working on both as a personal basis and self-employed in product design projects. This field, being his true passion, gets João always engaged in his own projects and product design contests.
