This project represents the culmination of my knowledge and skills in Rhinoceros 3D and Keyshot, as well as a commitment to creating a more sustainable and efficient urban transportation. Long time I liked and felt attracted to the simplest cubic shape of some BUS designs that are riding in Lisbon.
The SUBUS eco-friendly urban bus is not just a visually appealing design, but also a simple and sustainable solution of public urban transportation. With its sleek and simple exterior design, this bus is both aesthetically pleasing and functional. Its standard layout of three doors and just two-axle wheels make it easy to navigate through the city streets, while helping in the passengers flow. In this last concern, one of the most notable features of the SUBUS are the retractable LED lights above each door that provide clear indications of where passengers can enter and exit.
The SUBUS uses wide-angle cameras in the four extremities of the bus, which replace the traditional mirrors. This design approach not only reduces blind spots, but also provides a clearer view of the road and surroundings, making it easier for drivers to manoeuvre through traffic and grant surrounding pedestrians safety.
This BUS design also incorporates in the roof three detachable modules which can be easily replaced or changed to different ones, in order of different needs. In this case you can see modules of solar panels, which provide a renewable source of energy to power the bus's various systems, as well as in/out air fan circulation and several types of antennas. These modules not only improve the bus's energy efficiency, but also make maintenance and repairs easier and more cost-effective.
