Pulsante was my concept design for Domus Line contest which had invited designers to develop a wireless portable transmitter for the remote control of their lighting fixtures.
First of all I wanted to develop a concept design that was simple and user friendly but also easy to install on any surface. In this way Pulsante’s design is ready for every home, any surface or even any position due to its wall bracket specifications. 
In order to adapt this concept to many different users and home environments, it was designed with a minimal and clean shape but also an ergonomic way to make it fit any hand size. Although this product design has a modern style it is versatile enough to adapt to different interior designs.

Light Interaction

Pulsante is equipped outside with a ring light and inside with retro-illuminated buttons. Notwithstanding this aesthetic feature it’s also useful at the same time, because it gives ambient light indicating its location and also illuminating the buttons in dark environments.

Ergonomy

Its shape was designed to ensure an easy and safe handling, preventing it from slipping and extending its lifespan as much as possible.
While developing this project I kept in my mind two ergonomic key points. The first one is the exterior angle based in a circular pyramid section, which allows any hand size to grab it from the wall bracket easily and safely. The second key is the interior concave shape of the buttons that allows the thumb to hold it easily when Pulsante is in the palm.

Wall Bracket

This group of fittings composed with magnets and plastic studs are arranged in inverted position, ensuring always and the only one correct position of Pulsante when it’s at the wall bracket. The magnets allow both vertical and horizontal assembly, such as upside down position. However, while these magnets have enough strength to hold the Pulsante on the other hand, they don't offer too much resistance when taking it off from the bracket. This kind of adhesive is the best choice to assemble this bracket to any surface without causing any damage to it. It also opens the possibility to assemble it in different surfaces from rough to polished ones, such as a glass. A couple of extra removable adhesives makes this item versatile and possible for the user to change it from one place to another.

Colour Variation

Nowadays more than ever there is a huge interest in customized interior designs, kitchens are included. In this way the choice of any colour range must be smart and accurate, due to not being able to offer an unlimited range of colours. Keeping this in mind and researching within neutral tones this design presents three different colours: white (Snow); gray (Graphite) and black (Coal). In the field of neutral colours these ones are the most used in the vast majority of houses.
